End of Year Show

Fire Protocol

Fire Protocol Note: There is a visual aid as part of this document, detailing the locations of various types of fire extinguishers and fire alarms as well as the closest fire exits to each location.

Gantry

If you see a fire in the gantry, push the nearest fire alarm if it is safe to do so, or if you hear the fire alarm go off at any time while in the gantry: power everything down if it safe to do so. Leave any equipment/personal belongings where they are and exit the building via the stairs and through the main doors and to the designated congregation area (Outside the Workshop). If you are the DSM and in charge of the Prompt Copy, and it is safe to do so, take your Prompt Copy with you when you exit. Do not use the lift under any circumstances.

Backstage Corridor/Green Room/Dressing Rooms

If you see a fire, push the nearest fire alarm if it is safe to do so, or if you hear the fire alarm go off at any time, leave any equipment/personal belongings where they are and exit the building via the fire exit at the top of the corridor or through the back of the green room and make your way to the designated congregation area (Outside the Workshop).

Theatre Space

If you see a fire, push the nearest fire alarm if it is safe to do so, or if you hear the fire alarm go off at any time, leave any equipment/personal belongings where they are and exit the building via the fire exit to the left-hand or right-hand side of the theatre, or through the Riverside theatre entrance and then the main entrance of Horncastle, and make your way to the designated congregation area (Outside the Workshop). If there is an audience in the Theatre Space, any member of the crew already in the theatre space should be on hand to help the audience to exit the building quickly and safely if you are not already in the theatre do not attempt to reach the theatre exit immediately through the nearest exit. The production manager will aid the box office staff to check that all cast, crew and audience members have exited the theatre safely and nobody is left in the space.

UNLESS IT IS SAFE TO DO SO YOU SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO FIGHT A FIRE YOURSELF AT ANY TIME. DO NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESCUE ANYONE ELSE OR ANY EQUIPMENT. RE-ENTRY IS ALLOWED ONCE THE BUILDING IS DECLARED SAFE BY A FIRE MARSHALL/COLLEGE OFFICIAL.
